Readers on the Rise is a nonprofit literacy program dedicated to empowering children from grades K-3 through joyful, interest-based reading. We provide diverse, high-quality books directly to children's homes on the quarterly basis.
In underserved communities, early literacy gaps begin as early as kindergarten and widen over time. Many families lack access to age-appropriate, culturally relevant books at home, which is an essential factor in developing reading skills and school readiness. Without early intervention, children in these neighborhoods are more likely to struggle academically and less likely to develop a love of reading.
1 in 3 children in underserved communities grow up without books in the home. Early access to engaging relatable books boost vocabulary, imagination, and school readiness.
